How does the Dictionary search function work?
Select search field:
Start up the application and select the search field, signified by the magnifying glass symbol, at the upper edge of the screen.
Enter search word:
Enter the term in the search field using the screen keyboard.
As you type in your search term, the automatic search function will begin to display the relevant search results.
The word that is being searched for is often already found before the last letter of the search term is entered.
Display Dictionary entry:
Simply tap the term you would like to display when it appears in the resulting word list.
You will receive a clear Dictionary overview at a glance.
You can browse through the entries by scrolling.
If you are searching for a particular category, for example, synonyms or translations, click on the table of contents symbol at the top right. Now select the category.
Using the back-button at the top left you can go back to your search results or the previously displayed dictionary entry.
To return to the search field:
In order to return directly to the search function at any time, click on the search button (magnifying glass symbol) on the upper right.
What lies hidden in the SmartDict Spanish menu?
Open the SmartDict Spanish menu:
Via the small arrow button on the right edge of the screen you can open and close the SmartDict menu.
History:
In order to display the search history, click on the "History" entry in the menu.
The search history will display all of the Dictionary entries you have viewed, in list form.
The list is automatically filled while you use SmartDict Spanish. In order to delete the search history, tap the waste bin symbol at the upper left.
Favourites:
In order to mark a Dictionary entry as a "Favourite", please open the entry and tap the "Favourite" button in the menu. The Dictionary entry will be marked with a star in the top left corner.
In the History section, all favourites that have been marked as such will be displayed in the "Favourites" list.
The complete list can be deleted by tapping the waste bin symbol.
To remove an individual Favourite entry, access the corresponding Dictionary entry and tap on "Favourite" in the SmartDict menu.
Notes:
You can also add your own notes to a Dictionary entry.
In the SmartDict Spanish menu, open the "Notes" entry and enter your remark via the screen keyboard. By tapping "Finished", your input is stored and the Dictionary entry now shows a Note symbol.
If you select this symbol, your comment will be displayed.
Size:
In order to change the font size within the Dictionary, select "Size" from the SmartDict Spanish menu. Adjusting the slider in the direction of choice will change the font size.
Images:
If you wish to search for additional images for your selected search term, please select "Images" from the menu to access the optional online image search. An internet connection is necessary for this additional function.
Info:
After selecting "Info" in the SmartDict Spanish menu, you will be presented with two options: in the section "Select colour scheme", you can pick from a list of 9 colour schemes to suit your mood. In the section "About us" you can view additional info, such as version number of the App or a list of other Apps from our company.
Where can I find the table of contents?
Open a Dictionary entry and click on the list symbol at the upper right corner of the screen. Select the section you want to jump to by tapping it. This is how you can navigate through lengthy Dictionary entries in the blink of an eye.
