Voice Reader can be used on the iPhone, iPad and on the iPod touch from iOS 4.2.
Yes, once you have purchased the Voice Reader app or offline voices, you can download them again from the App Store through your account free of charge.
Updates are new versions of the app, which you can download free of charge to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from the App Store, or to your computer from the iTunes Store. Each time you access the App Store, it will automatically search for updates for the apps you have downloaded previously. Tap the "Updates" menu in the App Store. Tap the app for further information about the update. Tap "Update".
Please ensure that the relevant text file is available in .txt format with "Unicode" encoding.
Open the file in a text editor if necessary and choose "Save as...".
Select "Text only" (.txt) as the file type and enter "Unicode" file conversion for the text encoding.
Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to your computer.
In iTunes, select the connected mobile device in the left navigation bar under „Devices“.
At the top, switch to the "Apps" tab.
In the list of applications under "File sharing", click on the Voice Reader app and drag the desired text file there using drag-and-drop.
Once you click on "Synchronize", you can access the text file in Voice Reader on your mobile device through menu item "Open" in the toolbar.

Please ensure that you activated "m4a" as audio format in the voice reader settings before creating the audio file.
Let the desired text be read by Voice Reader and save the audio file on your mobile device.
Therefore choose the save-menu in the toolbar and tap on "Save audio".

You can open PDF and text files for reading with the Voice Reader simply and comfortably directly from other apps by loading them via the "Open in..." menu function.
This is valid for all apps that support iDocument Interaction for PDF or text files, for example, GoodReader, ReaddleDocs, Mail (E-Mails with PDF or text file attachments)
Vice versa you can of course also open created and stored text files in the Voice Reader with other applications, provided that these have the text file format registered in iOS.
Hint: Voice Reader supports txt files in the UTF-8 / Unicode format.
How it works:
In "My Documents", select the PDF or text file that you wish to load into Voice Reader. Then click on "Open in..." and select Voice Reader from the menu. (Note: Voice Reader support txt-files in the UTF-8 format. Make sure that you select the correct setting in the "Font settings" menu point.
ReaddleDocs:Select the PDF or text file that you wish to load into the Voice Reader from the "Documents" folder. Via the menu, select "Actions" and then select the "Open in..." function. Now select the Voice Reader.
Mail:If you have received an email with a PDF or text attachment, click on the attachment symbol for a while until the "Open in..." menu appears. Then select "Voice Reader".
Yes! If you already own our Voice Reader Text to Speech app and have acquired an offline voice there, you can use it free of charge in Voice Reader Web as well! To do this, go to the Voice Reader Text to Speech app and click on „Settings“ in the „Voice“ section and there at the top on the button „Share offline voices“ -> „Open in Voice Reader Web“. Thereafter, start Voice Reader Web and go to „Settings“ -> „Available offline voices“ -> „Restore offline voices“. In the „Restore“ message box you will receive information regarding which voices have already been purchased. Confirm with „OK“. A yellow downward pointing arrow next to the respective voice displays that the download is ready. Click to begin the loading process. Similarly, you can also share free of charge an offline voice which you purchased in Voice Reader Web with Voice Reader Text to Speech! If the yellow downward pointing arrow isn’t shown in Voice Reader Web, please delete the app from the multitasking bar and restart again the sharing of the offline voices in Voice Reader Text to Speech. (Please double-tap the home button on your mobile device. This will bring up the multitasking display, showing your "recently used" apps. Press and hold the icon of the Voice Reader Web app more than 3 seconds, than tap the red circle with a dash to delete it from the multitasking bar)
Yes, Voice Reader supports Remote Control too.
Via the "Play" button on your Remote Control Headset you can stop the playback (Pause function) or restart it again (Play function).
If you use offline voices, you can also jump to the next sentence by pressing the fast forward button. By pressing the rewind button you can listen to the previous sentence.
YES! If you’ve bought an offline voice, Voice Reader can remember the text position where the reading was stopped.
To continue the reading later on from this point, tap on the reading selection icon
in the Voice Reader menu bar. This functionality is available if you open text files which are
stored in Voice Reader and for texts in the Voice Reader editor.
It’s a very convenient possibility if you want to continue reading e.g. after having answered an incoming phone call or if you wish to mark a position in long text files,
where the reading was interrupted.
Please switch in the Voice Reader settings to the menu “Available offline voices” and choose the language, for which you bought the offline voice. Tap on the voice icon and wait a short moment until the new data of the chosen offline voice is uploaded. In a second step please tap on “voices” in the settings menu. Please deactivate your offline voice temporarily by clicking e.g. on an online voice. Then reactivate your offline voice for which the data was updated. Navigate to the editor and continue reading.
Since iOS 5 the reading out option of Voice Reader is supported directly from the locked screen of your mobile device.
Double-tap the home button and click on the play-symbol below the time display.
Procedure:
Please enter a text in Voice Reader or open a text file. Use the "Play"-button in the menu bar to start the reading.
To interrupt the reading process, please tap on the Pause switch (not the "close" button).
Now you can leave the app with a tap on the home button and lock your mobile device.
If you double-tap on the home button in the locked mode, the audio player switches of Voice Reader will be displayed.
Via "Play" you can continue the reading.
If you use an offline voice in Voice Reader you can skip directly to the next sentence with the fast-forward button or return to the previous sentence with the Rewind button.
