Help:

  1. Text entry:

    Launch Voice Reader and tap the application window so you can start entering your text. You have several options to enter the text to be read out, i.e.
    1. enter it manually
      using the on-screen keyboard or

    2. copy it from other applications and paste it into the Voice Reader using copy & paste. Copying and pasting is carried out in accordance with the specifications of your iPhone, iPad or iPhone touch (see also section 8). For example, switch to your browser, email program, notepad, ... and simply copy the required text there. Then launch Voice Reader and paste this text into the text window to have it read out.
      Note: You can use text which can be replaced through copy & paste. Write-protected text or images cannot be read out.

  2. Select voice and language:

    Information about the speaker is displayed in the text field and indicates which voice has been selected, e.g. German, female-voice, or English (British), male-voice, etc. To change the voice and language, tap the Settings symbol in the toolbar at the bottom and make your selection under "Voice".

  3. Available offline and online voices:

    1. After purchasing the Voice Reader app, you will be able to choose from 22 online voices (22 voices for 17 languages) for reading out your texts right away. You can choose a different voice at any time by tapping "Voice" in the "Settings" menu. Using the online voices for reading requires an Internet connection. Texts of up to 2,000 characters can be read out.

    2. If you prefer to be independent of a network connection and data volume usage, or if you would like to convert longer texts to audio, we recommend that you purchase offline voices. Here you also have a choice of 22 voices. The 17 available languages are listed under "Available offline voices" in the "Settings" menu. When you tap a flag, the voices available for the corresponding language are displayed. To listen to an audio sample, simply tap the button. If you would like to purchase the voice, tap the displayed price and confirm your purchase with OK.

    The Advantages of the offline voices:

      • The voice is downloaded and will be available even if your device is offline.
      • As a result, the reading process is faster and does not require an Internet connection. That means, there will be no additional charges, e.g. when using the application abroad, and reading out text does not use up any data volumes. An offline voice is significantly cheaper than one single roaming connection when abroad.
      • Texts of any length can be read out and converted to audio. Have full-length stories or lengthy descriptions read out to you and create your own audio books.
      • Advanced options, such as reading out a text sentence by sentence, skipping back and forth in the text from one sentence to another, or selecting sentences while reading, are only available when using offline voices.
